The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce, will open up new offices in seven cities around the globe this year, in a bid to penetrate into foreign markets and increase Thailand’s export figures.

DEP Director-General Rachane Potjanasuntorn said the new export promotion offices will be opened in Abuja in Nigeria, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Calcutta in India, Islamabad in Pakistan, Nairobi in Kenya, and Shenyang and Chengtao in China. He said they are considered new markets for Thai exporters.

Mr Rachane said the DEP also plans to build new offices in six other foreign cities in 2009, including Nanning and Xian in China, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok in Russia, Kiev in Ukraine, and Guatemala City in Guatemala.
